Daily structure
A typical week in the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy residency program consists of 36 patient care hours and incorporates 5 hours of 1-on-1 hands-on mentoring. Every Wednesday, residents rotate with other health care professionals as part of their experiential learning including orthopaedic surgery, primary care sports medicine, family medicine, orthopaedic physical therapists, occupational medicine, geriatric medicine, pediatric orthopaedic physical therapists and radiology. Other events that occur during experiential learning days include journal club, research, psychomotor development, and grand rounds. On Thursday mornings, lecture and lab are held review up to date concepts and practice psychomotor skills for each body region.
