Orientation
Intern Orientation: New PGY-1 residents orient internally with the department during sessions held in June. Here they learn about how to function as a strong intern on the medicine teaching service as well as in the continuity clinic, perform effective transitions of care, and learn how they will be evaluated. There are also meet and greet lunches and gatherings to meet current residents, faculty and staff.
Senior Orientation: PGY-1 transitioning to PGY-2 will have senior led discussions during the spring of their intern year which focus on how to be an effective team leader. They also discuss communication skills and how to be an effective teacher and how to give feedback to learners in order to best prepare them for the senior role. Training is presented on Emotional Intelligence and integration into clinical and professional growth.
