Health Screenings for Early Detection
Aside from leading a healthy lifestyle, screening for early detection is another important part of taking care of your health. Here are some recommendations from the U.S. Preventative Service Task Force to get your started.
Screening Type | Who should get this screening? | Details |
Cervical Cancer Screening, or “PAP Smear” | Females between 21 and 65 years | Different screenings recommendations are appropriate for different women. Please talk with your health care provider about current pap smear recommendations for cervical cancer to be sure you are up to date. |
Colon Cancer Screening | Adults 45 years and older | Screening for colon cancer is one of the most effective screenings available. There are a number of different approved options for colon cancer screening. Please talk with your doctor about your options for colon cancer screening. |
Breast Cancer Screening | Females over the age of 40 |
While recommendations may vary, in general, women ages 40-50 are encouraged to talk with their health care team about when to receive screenings. Women 50 and over may be recommended to seek mammography screenings at least every two years.
