Call system
There is no in-house call. For weeknights, our residents will be assigned at Home Call every 4th night, covering 2 campuses only (St. Luke’s Bethlehem and St. Luke’s Anderson Hospitals). For Weekend Call, our residents will work every other weekend, rotating between 1) A 24-hour Saturday call with Sunday off and 2) A 13-hour Friday night call and Saturday off and 24-hour Sunday call and Monday off. Weekend call will involve rounding and managing operative patients at only one campus (St. Luke’s Bethlehem). The remainder of the call will be at Home Call (covering the St. Luke’s Bethlehem and Anderson Hospitals), returning to the hospital only if needed.

Residency: A balancing act.
Residency is a demanding period, marked by long hours and challenging decisions. It is important to us that our residents are able to strike a balance between the demands of the role and a healthy home and personal life. A recent ACGME survey revealed a concerning discrepancy: while many residents perceive themselves as healthy, they often struggle with sleep disturbances and low energy. The Urology Residency team is dedicated to providing resources and organizing activities to help residents stay physically and emotionally healthy and develop good habits for the future.
Our culture
Our commitment to knowledge and education is epitomized by our expanding Graduate Medical Education offerings. Our goal is to develop outstanding health care professionals who will serve our community well into the future.
We take very seriously our role as stewards of health care in the community, never satisfied with our accomplishments, but rather always strive to improve the breadth and quality of care we can provide.
We are proud of the experience, skills and dedication of our residents. Our focus on clinical research, innovation and knowledge has helped establish St. Luke’s as a progressive health system recognized nationally for quality.
