Welcome to the Urology Residency Program.

St. Luke’s Urology Residency seeks to become the region’s top-rated urology training program for lifelong learners dedicated to making an impact on the specialty of urology.

Our residents undergo training in advanced surgical and clinical skills as well as leadership and mindfulness to develop mastery of skills necessary for a successful transition into independent practice, and to provide integrated, reliable, effective care to our community and further transform the delivery of urologic care within Northeastern Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.

OUR PROGRAM

Building the necessary skills.

From laying the foundation of comprehensive urologic patient care, to offering broad exposure via a curated group of rotations, to trainees stepping into leadership roles that dive more heavily into subspeciality care, our residents will see increased patient care responsibility over five years of clinical training.

LEADERSHIP & FACULTY

Driven to provide high quality care.

Our faculty members share with our residents our wide-ranging experience, interests, and clinical expertise. We look forward to training residents in the use, study, and advancement of the most current surgical techniques, including robotic surgery, laparoscopy, advanced endoscopy, and urologic oncology.

Prioritizing wellness at St. Luke’s.

Our philosophy is analogous to a professional athletics program with a focus on not only urologic and academic performance, but mental and physical health. Our faculty utilize a teaching approach that integrates coaching and mindset. Energies will be directed at not only improving knowledge base and surgical execution but also on recovery and longevity of practice.

Residents will be afforded opportunities to share struggles as well as triumphs, not only amongst themselves, but also with faculty in a mentorship model. Additionally, they will be included in clinical and practice decision making.

Our practice is well staffed with experienced physician associates and nurse practitioners. This will facilitate equitable sharing of clinical responsibilities to allow residents to focus on educational and experiential goals.

Finally, protected administration time for the duties of daily life (car maintenance, running errands, dental appointments) will be available on a regular basis.

St. Luke’s University Health Network is dedicated to physician wellness with the establishment of a chief wellness officer and intermittent physician well-being index measurement. Resident physicians will also be encouraged to track this index overtime with longitudinal follow up and adjustment of the resident well-being curriculum to maximize overall performance and satisfaction.
