The Reverend Anne G. Huey "Framework of Meaning" Endowment Fund for Education in Hospice
Reverend Anne G. Huey
Anne Huey embraced the Lehigh Valley as home over 40 years ago involving herself in LGBTQ+ justice issues beginning in the 1980s during the AIDS crisis. Anne has dedicated 39 years of her life and career to hospice work exploring ways to create inclusive and welcoming space for communities and individuals sometimes not considered. In her own words, “I have learned to listen more than talk, to understand way more than to judge, to see and hear it from the other person’s perspective. I have come to think about this as learning the Framework of Meaning someone is putting around what they are living, much as if they are framing a precious picture.” For Anne, this is the core of spiritual care and the center of hospice work.
The Reverend Anne G. Huey "Framework of Meaning" Endowment Fund for Education in Hospice Care is dedicated to expanding understanding and education around the true value and interdisciplinary nature of hospice care and supports those values as an enduring legacy of all that Anne holds true. It will support students in their educational journey as they explore how patients and their families define diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in the context of their care planning. The student will have creative latitude in how they present their work to the hospice teams and how it can be incorporated into practice.
Please join us in celebrating Reverend Anne Huey and her life's work by making a gift to this meaningful endowment in her name.
As a recognized 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, any gift you make to St. Luke's is tax deductible.
