Conditions we treat
High blood pressure (hypertension)
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is when blood pressure consistently measures at or above 130/80 mmHg. It’s typically caused by a mix of genetics, lifestyle habits, and other health issues. While early stages rarely show symptoms, untreated hypertension can lead to severe complications like heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.
High cholesterol levels (dyslipidemia)
Dyslipidemia refers to abnormal levels of lipids, such as cholesterol and triglycerides, in the bloodstream. This imbalance can lead to various cardiovascular complications. Often results from a combination of genetic factors, lifestyle choice and underlying health conditions, treatment goals aim to stabilize lipid levels and reduce the risk of heart problems.
Insulin resistance and prediabetes
Insulin resistance and prediabetes are conditions that signal higher-than-normal blood sugar levels, which can progress to type 2 diabetes. Symptoms can often go unnoticed but adopting a healthy lifestyle reduces the odds of developing this condition.
Metabolic syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a collection of health conditions that increase risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. This condition is diagnosed when an individual meets three or more of the following criteria:
- Elevated blood pressure
- Elevated fasting glucose levels
- Elevated triglycerides
- Elevated waist circumference
- Reduced HDL cholesterol
