What gets me excited about going to work every day is the opportunity to listen to my patients’ stories, talk to them about how their illnesses affect their day-to-day lives and what I can do to help get them back on their feet. I do not believe in the one-size-fits-all approach. I individualize treatment strategies and treat every one of my patients like my own family member.
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in engineering. Because of my interest in problem solving, I was naturally drawn to medicine and eventually the subspecialty of interventional radiology. I obtained my medical degree from the State University of New York at Downstate. I went on to complete a diagnostic radiology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and interventional radiology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. I joined St. Luke’s in 2019 and very shortly realized this is a top-notch institution in which to practice medicine where different specialties really collaborate to provide the best possible care for patients.
Interventional radiology is a specialty in which we use advanced imaging technologies to guide minimally invasive procedures. We use small needles, long wires and tiny tubes to perform a variety of procedures, such as obtaining tissue to make a definitive diagnosis, reopening blocked vessels, treating fibroids and enlarged prostates and treating a variety of benign as well as malignant tumors. After years of practice, it is still intriguing to me that we are able to accomplish all of these through a small nick through the skin to the size of the tip of a pencil. The most rewarding part of my job is the ability to partner with my colleagues who are the best in their field to get my patients the best quality of life that they deserve.
In my free time, I like to explore the valley and travel to places with my wife and 2-year-old son. I also exercise regularly to keep myself focused.
