My philosophy for patient care is to partner with each patient to provide the most up to date and personalized care at the highest standards. Each patient is unique and as such I try to tailor every plan to what would work best for the patient, within the framework of what is evidence based and proven to work. I believe communication is key and try to maintain an open line that continues seamlessly between visits.
I am a board-certified gastroenterologist who treats patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as the broad spectrum of gastrointestinal ailments. I graduated from NYU School of Medicine and was inducted in the Alpha Omega Alpha honors medical society. I did internal medicine and gastroenterology training at New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornel Medicine. While in fellowship I also completed a master’s degree in health policy and economics. I then completed an additional fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at the University of Pennsylvania and remained on faculty there for 1 year prior to joining St. Luke's to help build our growing IBD program. I work closely with our colorectal surgery colleagues and other specialists to provide comprehensive and personalized care, while serving as a resource to my patients to help them get better.
I was one of the authors of the latest American Gastroenterology Association Ulcerative Colitis National Guidelines and have published nearly 40 peer-reviewed research articles and several book chapters. My research has a particular focus on the cost effectiveness of different treatment modalities.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 4 children. We love to spend time outdoors and visit the Philadelphia Zoo or the Franklin Institute.
