Geisinger St. Luke's Specialty Services - Spine and Pain
I truly believe that patients should come first and foremost when providing health care. One of the main reasons I chose to work at St. Luke’s University Health Network is that this approach is embraced every day with the incredible culture here. My goal as your physician is to diagnose and evaluate your pain, looking at your complete medical history to create a care plan that will address your lifestyle needs and limitations in the best possible way. I firmly believe that having an honest dialogue about expectations and fears is cardinal to delivering the best care in pain management. I will work hard and do my best in providing an individualized plan for you.
I specialize in minimally invasive techniques using fluoroscopic (xray) and ultrasound guidance to treat painful conditions and improve functionality without heavy reliance on medications. I am a board certified anesthesiologist with additional fellowship training and board certification in interventional pain medicine. I earned my medical degree at the Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine, completed an internal medicine internship at Westchester Medical Center at New York Medical College, an anesthesiology residency at Temple University Hospital and a chronic pain management fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
I treat a variety of chronic pain conditions not limited to chronic neck and back pain, joint pain, muscle pain, post laminectomy syndrome, facial pain, headaches, complex regional pain syndrome, extremity pain and neuropathy. I have had extensive training in fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided procedures and believe in multimodal therapies help better the lives of my patients.
I am an active member with the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Pain Medicine and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
Outside of work, I spend time with family and enjoy the outdoors. My wife and I love to travel and explore together. I grew up in Pennsylvania and my extended family still lives here.

“Dr. Someshaker is a Dr with great compassion and total understanding of my health concernsDr. S called me personally to share my MRI results and assured me he would discuss them further during my next appt. D. S has gone above and beyond to run the tests and find out the source of my health issue. This was not my past experience while seeing doctors at LVH. I highly recommend Dr. S and wish I would have found him 3 years ago when my health concern began.”
