St. Luke's Center for Urology - Allentown
I have been practicing urology in the Lehigh Valley for about 37 years, gaining extensive experience in the treatment of general urologic diseases, including kidney stones, urologic cancers, prostate diseases, incontinence and bladder dysfunction. My specialized interest is in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction and vasectomy. I am the region’s most experienced physician in penile implant (prosthesis) surgery.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, I attended graduate school for immunology at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. I trained in general surgery at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY, an affiliate of Cornell University Medical College, and completed a residency in urology at Temple University Hospital, Medical College of Pennsylvania and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, PA. I became board certified by the American Board of Urology in 1987.
I have served on the Board of Trustees of the Lehigh County Medical Society and Lehigh Chapter of the American Cancer Society. I am a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Urologic Association.
I live in Bethlehem with my wife, Janet. I am an avid pilot and have been flying for more than 20 years, holding both single and multiengine instrument ratings.

“My first experience with Saint Luke's. I have multiple sclerosis and I'm very demanding about my doctors . I came to Dr. Lieberman for a specific procedure. By dumb luck because of cancellations I got a new patient appointment in 8days of calling that's why he didn't have my records. I wish I would have met Dr Lieberman 20 years ago he's the 9th urologist I've seen in the last 14 months and by far the best. I'll gladly drive the 60 some miles to see him. Other urologist I've seen and asked about him all said he's the best. I'm very happy everyone I've dealt with so far.”

“Dr. Richard Lieberman is fantastic. His bedside manner is impeccable. He may run late sometimes but given the delicate nature of the topics he must discuss it is well worth any wait time. I appreciate the time he takes to understand his patients individual situations and the consideration and attention he shows based on their circumstances. His knowledge of his field is exceptional and he conveys his message in an easy to understand way. I am hoping Dr. Lieberman does not retire any time soon as I'm not sure where I will go to find such exquisite care when he does. St. Luke's is lucky to have such an extraordinary doctor like him on staff.”
