I specialize in medical complications of pregnancy, including preterm birth and fetal growth restriction prevention and management. I also train residents in prenatal diagnosis using ultrasound. I have a special interest in preventing adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes and establishing international collaborations for teaching, research and service to disadvantaged communities.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities as part of St. Luke’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and St. Luke’s Maternal Fetal Medicine, I serve as the Network’s section chief of Obstetrics and the director of research for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
I earned my MD and completed my residency at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in my native Bogotá, Colombia. I then completed a fellowship in perinatal medicine and ultrasound at Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School and University of London in the United Kingdom. My interest in biomedical research led me to the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where I earned a master’s in clinical epidemiology, followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine.
Prior to joining St. Luke’s, I served as a senior staff fellow at the Perinatology Research Branch of the National Institutes of Child Health & Human Development, National Institutes of Health in Washington, DC. I also served on the faculty at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
In my leisure time, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking my dogs, taking hikes and learning how to kayak.

“To start off, sonogramer (Name) was super kind and took her time during the sonogram. She explained with she was doing step by step and genuinely wanted to answer any questions she could.Dr. Tolosa was very informative and made sure he explained everything thoroughly. He constantly stopped to make sure I was following along with the information that was given. His presence was calming. The MA (Name) was super kind and helped all throughout the appointment. Even when there was an issue getting my bloodwork she offered the next best suggestion.”

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions from our
nationally recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do
not necessarily reflect the views of St. Luke’s University Health Network.
“I went into this appointment very concerned and worried over my pregnancy and left confident and relieved. Dr. Tolosa was very thorough and straight forward in a compassionate way. I left with a better understanding of the complications I had been experiencing. I wish I could have all of my ultrasounds done with Gabrielle. She made me us feel very comfortable in an anxious situation. She was also compassionate and patient. I could not have asked for a better experience with this team from front desk , sonographer, and Dr.”
