My primary goal is to help identify individuals who may be struggling with addiction, meet them where they are and compassionately address their concerns. Many times, individuals do not have insight into their illness. To help them, I take the time to truly listen to them so that I can understand their values, needs and traumas. I use motivational interviewing techniques and psychotherapy, in addition to medication, to help my patients fight their addiction.
I believe strongly in a holistic approach to care as true healing involves all aspects of a person’s health. Addiction disorders can negatively impact a person’s physical health as well as their mental health and lead to other issues such as career, relationship and legal challenges. A holistic approach is critical in helping individuals regain the skills needed to be functioning and contributing members of society.
I am a board-certified addiction psychiatrist dedicated to the treatment of individuals suffering from substance use disorders. I collaborate closely with many departments throughout the St. Luke’s University Health Network to address the different facets of addiction treatment.
Outside of addiction psychiatry, I enjoy traveling with my family and experiencing other cultures. I am a bit of a foodie, so I especially like to try different types of cuisine. I am actively involved in volunteer activities with my children at our church.
