Board certified in nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, and internal medicine.
St. Luke’s Heart & Vascular Center, Heart Failure Clinic, specializes in the treatment and management of patients in various stages of congestive heart failure. Our focus is on the education of patients and their families to become full participants in their own home care, improve their quality of life and subsequently reduce the need for repeated long hospital stays.
Dr. Allen oversees the clinic and brings extensive experience through his advanced heart failure/transplant fellowship at Temple University Hospital. He introduced the Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) to St. Luke’s. The VAD is a mechanical pump used for patients who have a weakened heart awaiting transplant or who are not candidates for transplant. Dr. Allen also specializes in pulmonary hypertension and has opened St. Luke's Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic, the first in the region.
