Geisinger St. Luke's Pottsville Primary Care
My philosophy for treating patients is always to put the patient first, actively listen to them and provide patient-centered care while following the best practices in evidence-based medicine. Obtaining and performing a comprehensive history and physical examination determines the best way to improve patient care and outcomes.
After graduating as a nationally certified physician assistant, I started my career in Pottsville in 1983. Highlights of my career include being the founding Graduate Physician Assistant Program Director at DeSales University and the Penn State College of Medicine. I have continued to practice hospital-based medicine throughout my 40-year career and have served as the Medical/Surgical House Staff Officer. My career has provided opportunities in internal medicine, sports medicine and family medicine and has allowed me to care for underserved populations. I am also a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, a Master of Health Services Administration from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York and a Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. I participated in the Harvard Macy Health Professions Scholar Program, where I was an adjunct faculty member.
In addition, I was a tenured professor at DeSales University, an Associate Professor of Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine, an Assistant Clinical Professor at Hahnemann/Drexel in Philadelphia and an Assistant Clinical Professor at St. Francis University.
Married for more than 40 years, I am the mother of two sons and a daughter and the grandmother of three darling granddaughters. Away from work, I enjoy being at the beach in Delaware and spending time with friends and family.

“Chris Bruce is my primary care doctor. I have been her patient for many years, long before she transferred to St. Luke's. I live an hour and a half away from the Pottsville facility. I see Chris Bruce because she is absolutely the best primary care physician; she is an intelligent, thoughtful, conscientious and compassionate doctor. In spite of the travel time - I am fortunate to have Chris Bruce as my doctor.”

“This provider Christine Bruce is one of the best I have seen in a really long time!! She takes the time to listen she takes advice on how to treat me or my special needs son. I can't rave about her and her staff enough. They are kind and compassionate. And think outside the box to get to the outcome desired even if it takes a little longer. She takes the time and she listens to suggestions to make him feel comfortable. She absolutely needs a raise.”

“Dr Bruce is a top notch physician. She has been the most helpful doctor I have ever seen, in my life. I have been treated with such respect and admire the woman for all her knowledge and ability to teach you about your health and how to be proactive with all of it. I cannot say enough what an asset she is to your team. I would follow her to the ends of the earth! She also offers st Luke's newest X-rays, mammograms, diabetic eye exam, anything new she is always offering, it's so appreciated. I hope you all treat her right, and with the same respect she does her patients, she is AMAZING”

“This is the first time I met with Christine. She was so kind to me. She said she spent 35 minutes before my visit reviewing any medical information she had. NO OTHER DOCTOR has ever done that for me. She also told me she would take good care of me. No other doctor has ever said that to me either. I have visited St Luke's before for pain management. My doctor was always respectful of me and gave me good care. I was also at the ER and also had a good visit. I am very happy with Christine and feel confident that she will, in fact, take good care of me.”
