St. Luke's General Surgery - Miners
I take pride in providing Schuylkill and Carbon County residents with excellent surgical and wound care so they can receive the care they need close to home. I am a general surgeon with additional colon and rectal training.
I provide a wide range of surgical services, including minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic) to treat diseases of the abdominal wall (hernia), skin, gallbladder, appendix, small and large intestine and anorectal diseases. Conditions I treat include gallstones, gallbladder dysfunction, abdominal wall and groin hernias (simple and complex), appendicitis, skin cancer, noncancerous skin lesions like cysts and lipomas, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, colon cancer, anorectal fistula and hemorrhoids. For patients with end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis, I place peritoneal dialysis catheters via a minimally invasive approach.
Besides surgical care, I provide wound care, enabling patients with chronic wounds to receive ongoing treatment in their communities. This includes arterial and venous stasis ulcers, pressure injuries and non-healing surgical wounds.
I received my medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed my general surgery training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Midway through my general surgery residency, I spent a year researching inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. After finishing my general surgery residency, I completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital before joining St. Luke's. I am a board-certified general surgeon. I practice primarily at the St. Luke's Miners campus in Coaldale, where I serve on the Board of Trustees and am an active member of the rural community.
Outside of my clinical practice, I have an interest in teaching students and residents in the medical field. I teach both general surgery residents and family practice/rural medicine residents, as well as physician assistant (PA) students.
Personally, I enjoy going to the gym, playing tennis and pickleball and spending time with my family. My two children certainly keep me active.
