New Division Chief for Inpatient Pediatric Unit
August 02, 2024
Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, Adnan Allan, DO, has been selected as the Division Chief of the Inpatient Pediatric Unit at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
“We are excited to see Dr. Allan assume this position,” says Jessika Haynos, Vice President, Pediatric Service Line St. Luke’s University Health Network. “He has been a dedicated team member within our network since 2018 and has been instrumental in the growth and development of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.”
Before Dr. Allan started working at St. Luke’s, he attended Penn State University as an undergraduate. After Penn State he attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. He did his residency at Geisinger Children’s Hospital.
In this new position, Dr. Allan will be involved in the growth and development of the program and responsible for overseeing the clinical and administrative functions of the unit. “I will be serving as a bridge, or liaison, between the hospitalists and administration, helping to expand our services while maintaining high quality care,” says Dr. Allan. Even though this new role is part administration, Dr. Allan will still be a full-time clinical practitioner, which he is very happy about as his primary love is taking care of children.
Dr. Allan has always known he wanted to go into pediatrics. He values the trust that parents put in him to take care of their children. He really enjoys the opportunity to be involved in the process of making kids and their parents feel better.
“I prefer taking care of children,” Dr. Allan said. “I think they are very inspirational, and even when they’re sick, all they want to do is get better so they can go home and play.”
Dr. Allan is a part of the quality improvement committee which looks at length of stay, readmissions, and overall strives to improve the quality of care for our patients.
Outside of the pediatrics floor, Dr. Allan enjoys staying active and exercising so he can keep up with his patients! He also has a creative side and likes to draw and read comic books.
Dr. Allan is very excited about this new role and to be a part of the growth of the pediatric services. He said, “St. Luke’s has grown so much ever since the time I came here, and I’m really looking forward to how it will grow in the next 10-15 years.”
Dr. Allan is eager to bring that enthusiasm and expertise in his role as Division Chief of the Inpatient Pediatric Unit at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Read More News
