January 22, 2020
St. Luke’s University Health Network announces the opening of St. Luke’s Health Center-Palmerton, a new medical office building that will bring urgent care, primary care, specialists and walk-in diagnostic lab and X-ray services under one roof at 614 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.
St. Luke’s Health Center-Palmerton is conveniently located in the borough in what was once Haja Lanes bowling alley. The 9,800-square-foot building has undergone a top to bottom renovation, both inside and out, said Joseph Pinto, Chief Operating Officer of St. Luke’s Lehighton and St. Luke’s Sacred Heart campuses.
“What is important in providing quality care is continuity and integration of care,” Pinto said. “Our new facility is bringing multi-disciplinary teams and continuity of care right here in the Palmerton community.”
St. Luke’s Care Now Palmerton, a walk-in center that also offers occupational health services, will open at the new health care building at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27. (The current location 135 Lafayette Avenue will close Friday, Jan 24.) St. Luke’s 18 Care Now locations throughout the greater Lehigh Valley including Lehighton offer urgent medical care without appointments for minor illnesses and injuries such as colds, the flu, sinus infection, sprains, broken bones and cuts.

St. Luke’s Health Care-Palmerton is part of St. Luke’s promise to expand access to quality care in Carbon County following the acquisition of Palmerton Hospital and Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton in December 2017.
By February, St. Luke’s expects to open the center’s specialty suite for the treatment of gastro-intestinal disorders, and later this year, add pain, spine and cardiac specialists, Pinto said.
As part of its broader Carbon County strategy, St. Luke’s is building an $80 million campus in Franklin Township that is slated to open in spring 2021. In the interim, St. Luke’s is committed to the Lehighton campus and has invested significant capital in renovating the facility, adding new technology and expanding the emergency department.
