Dr. Ackerman, who joined St. Luke’s in 2015, is passionate about helping people who are suffering from strokes as well as other illnesses of the brain and nervous system.
His long-time fascination with the science and health of the brain inspired him to enter his field of expertise. “I love how the brain keeps things organized and functioning, and want to help people when something goes wrong,” he says.
Dr. Ackerman earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, then completed advanced training in neurology and stroke/vascular neurology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
A family man of faith, Dr. Ackerman places the person at the center of all he does as a physician. “All the advancements in technology are enhanced only through the personal connection we have with our patients here at St. Luke’s,” he says. “They are the reason I am in this profession.” Learn more about Dr. Ackerman here.
