Fogelsville Primary Care Welcomes Two Physicians
December 17, 2019
St. Luke’s Fogelsville Primary Care recently welcomed two experienced doctors to its practice. The move will allow Fogelsville Primary Care to accommodate the increasing demand from residents in a fast-growing area of the Lehigh Valley.
Neal Berkowitz, MD and Colleen Charney, MD joined Wafa Hanna, MD in the practice.
“We are in a growing area,” explains Tracy Buss, Practice Administrator at St. Luke’s Fogelsville Primary Care, which is located at 1251 Turnstone Drive, Suite 120 in Fogelsville.
“The additions of Dr. Berkowitz and Dr. Charney will enable us to meet the demand for outstanding care from our local community.”
The expansion will also allow for more scheduling flexibility and convenience for the patients with evening hours.
Dr. Berkowitz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at Sacred Heart Hospital.
“My love for the practice of family medicine over the last 37 years is based on the relationships that I develop with my patients,” he says.
“Family medicine encompasses every aspect of life, including the wonders of growing children; the goals, aspirations and disappointments of adulthood; and the challenges of old age. Life is often a rollercoaster, and my job is to help navigate the hard times, and enjoy and celebrate the good times with my patients.
“My other goal is to aim for a healthy and long retirement for my patients utilizing preventive care medicine and best practice recommendations.”
Dr. Charney went to the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine on a National Health Service Corps scholarship to work with the underserved of our country. After earning her medical degree, Dr. Charney did her residency at York Hospital.
“The most fulfilling aspect of my job is the relationships I have with patients and their families, seeing babies grow up, seeing young women getting married and having kids of their own, helping older patients to get through tough times and helping families through the deaths of loved ones,” Dr. Charney says.
“Being in family medicine allows me to experience all of this. It is so rewarding to share in a part of my patients’ lives and it is an honor to have them trust in me.”
St. Luke’s Fogelsville Primary Care is conveniently located in St. Luke’s Health Center – Fogelsville with services such as maternal fetal medicine, lab services, OB/GYN and physical therapy.
