I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton and then earned my medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
I completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology here at St. Luke's Hospital and have lived in the Lehigh Valley since 1983. I am board-certified in the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. From March 2007 until December 2015 I was Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Easton Hospital. I'm also a member of the Pennsylvania and the Northampton County Medical Societies.
My inspiration for entering medicine was the miracle of life. I have always been amazed at how the human heart beats without rest, how we fall asleep and awake, and how we survive the journey from conception to birth. I enjoy the primary care and surgical aspects of our specialty which allow for lifelong relationships with patients and families. Other than handing a couple a healthy baby, there is nothing more rewarding than helping someone reestablish her health and overcome an illness.
I believe patients need to be heard, understood and treated in a compassionate and respectful manner. For a pregnancy, my goal is to provide a truly memorable and safe experience for the patient and her family. My interests include both low and high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery including vaginal hysterectomy and laparoscopic hysterectomy, family planning, basic infertility, cervical dysplasia and HPV, as well as health maintenance, menopause, and sexual disorders.
I have been blessed with a wonderful, understanding wife and 5 children who are now adults. I love children and hopefully, will be blessed with grandchildren in the near future. In my free time, I enjoy photography, music, movies, traveling, getting out in nature and trying to stay in shape.

“Dr. Baker is the finest MD I have ever visited!”

“Dr. Baker has been my only-gym fro over 36 years. He delivered all 4 of our children. I've always felt comfortable calling him with any questions and he's always gotten back to me in a timely way to give me answers. A lovely man and wonderful doctor.”

“Pleasant experience, as always.”

“From the moment I entered into the office, I was greeted with the utmost respect from everyone from check in to exam to check out. Christine at the front desk is perfect for that position. She is the first one I saw, and her warm welcome and smile that early in the morning were so appealing. The nurse who took my vitals was also extremely pleasant, as was Dr. Baker himself. He always takes the time to ask about my elderly mother. Dr. Baker listens intently and advises appropriately. I am deeply saddened to know he will be retiring soon. He will be deeply missed, but I feel comfortable with him putting me in the hands of another doctor at that practice. Thank you to Dr. Baker and everyone who treated me so well during my April 18th visit.”
