A Wide Variety of Dialysis and Related Services
St. Luke’s DaVita Outpatient Dialysis Centers provide a wide variety of dialysis and related services to meet the needs of our patients. Some of the services include:
Hemodialysis - patients utilize a dialysis machine that circulates and filters blood to remove waste products and excess fluid.
Peritoneal dialysis - a dialysate solution is introduced into the abdomen to remove waste products and excess fluids. There are two types of peritoneal dialysis offered at the center: continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and continuous cyclic peritoneal dialysis (CCPD). CAPD is self-administered during the day and requires no machine. CCPD dialyzes the patient during the evening while the patient sleeps.
Pre-renal Program – This program is for patients not yet on dialysis. Patients meet with a dietician, social worker, nurse and other staff who help prepare them for dialysis.
Epogen® Program – Epogen® is a medication used to help normalize the blood count. When prescribed, the centers will help the patient not yet on dialysis obtain the necessary insurance coverage.1
Patient Support Group – The centers offer a patient support group for those who wish to attend. Those using dialysis services at the centers meet on a regular basis to discuss issues pertaining to treatment, socialize, lend support to each other, and hear periodic presentations on related topics such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiology.
